WORLD CUP OR WORLD HYPE

The nation is overcome with hope, pride and hysteria every time the World Cup arrives
This is my 5th World Cup, and once again, I’m glued to the sofa once, twice or even three times a day watching football; hoping to witness history in the making or to say: “Yeah, I watched that live.”
Is the amount of hype that surrounds the World Cup really that important to miss work or alter plans for? I think in a way it is but changing holiday plans or major events like weddings etc are a bit over the top.
The World Cup is the only sporting event which brings people together. It allows school to break up early and for employers to let their staff watch the beautiful game instead of working. The Three Lions might have been kicked out but maybe, just maybe, England will host our own World Cup in 2018. If you think it's too hyped now, 2018 is going to be something else. Better leave the country when and if it happens...
