DJ Melody Kane

DJ Melody Kane has been inspired by urban music her entire life. Growing up to the sounds of reggae & hip hop, courtesy of her Jamaican mother & b-boy brother. It seemed only natural for her to pursue some kind of music career

She began clubbing during the first wave of UK Garage, in the late 90’s. This is where she knew she had to be a DJ. After Melody got her own equipment, she was hooked, and only left home to go and listen to other DJ’s perform. As more & more friends starting encouraging her, she felt the time was right to start taking her DJ’ing out of the bedroom and into the clubs

After a couple of years playing early warm ups & late night cool downs, she landed herself a residency in Brighton’s longest running club night, Urban Chic. Her enthusiasm for spinning is only matched by her mixing skills & track selection, and within weeks of her debut she was being booked at every Urban event throughout the city.

Within months of Melody being the ‘go-to-dj’ for all of Brighton’s promoters, she landed her first radio slot on Brighton’s Reverb 97.2fm, where she co-hosted a weekly Thursday night show called ‘The Urban Chic Show’. After only a few weeks, the show was moved to prime time Saturday. After the show's success, Melody can now be heard throughout London on Deja Vu 99.2FM & on Brighton's Upfront Dance 99.1FM, and be seen performing all over the U.K

2009 saw the launch of Melody’s international career, with guest appearances in Europe, U.S.A (where she was inaugurated into one of the worlds largest international DJ crews ‘The BumSquad DJZ ‘, becoming their first UK female DJ) & already in 2010 she's played in Thailand & Holland.

DJ Melody Kane is not your usual female DJ. First up, she spins on vinyl, second, she uses the mic to hype the crowd & third, she can actually mix & blend as well as the next guy, rather than just try to look cute in the DJ booth. When you go & see Melody spin, you’re actually seeing a DJ, not a bored glamour model looking to make a fast buck - DJ Melody Kane is the real deal.
