FILM REVIEW: DOG POUND
Jul 30, 2010

If raw, violent and aggressive films are your cup of tea then Dog Pound is the movie for you
Dog pound is a gritty violent movie based around three main characters: Davis (Shane Kippel), a 16 year old boy locked up for drug possession, Angel (Mateo Morales), a ruthless youngster convicted of assault and grand theft auto, and the irreverent Butch (Adam Butcher), an older boy locked up for assaulting a jailer. The trio are locked up in the Enola Vale Youth Correctional Centre in LA and are supervised by Officer Goodyear (Lawrence Bayne)
The first part of the movie is mild compared to what is next to come. Viewers watch as Davis and Butch come face to face with their bully, known as Banks. Banks doesn't hold back in giving the boys several eye-watering beatings.
With the theme of the movie clearly evident it is not long before viewers witness even more ferocious bouts of realism in the name of fighting, beatings and tormenting. The plot-line has clearly come secondary to the movies violent nature, as viewers witness horrific scenes of prison war.
Writer and Director Kim Chapiron exposes some of the prisoners vulnerable side, as the boys are caged in a war zone for which they are forced to call home.
This film may not be to everyones tastes but if you're thick skinned and enjoy gritty violent movies then this is the one for you.
Released Date: Friday 27th August 2010
