Vybz Kartel's hit tune 'Clarks' has dramatically increased the demand for the traditional footwear
The dancehall tune which was released in spring this year has sent sales of Clarks shoes soaring in Jamaica. The song which features lines such as 'Everybody haffi ask weh mi get mi Clarkes,' was a massive anthem for the Jamaican artist.
Clarks footwear is very popular in Jamaica, and with Kartel being such a prominent and successful bashment artist, the sales figures have grown significantly. As a result of the massive success, prices of the sensible shoes have risen from 6,000 Jamaican dollars to over 10,000 - equivalent to nearly £80. The British brand originates from a 185 year old family company in Somerset, and its shoes include Wallabees, Desert Boots and Desert Treks.
