WYCLEF JEAN FOR PRESIDENT OF HAITI
Aug 04, 2010

According to reports, Wyclef Jean may soon be announcing his candidacy as president of Haiti
The announcement would end months of speculation that the Haitian born star would be running for the elections, which take place on November 28th.
Last week, Jean's family released this statement: "Wyclef's commitment to his homeland and its youth is boundless, and he will remain its greatest supporter regardless of whether he is part of the government moving forward. At this time, Wyclef Jean has not announced his intent to run for Haitian president. If and when a decision is made, media will be alerted immediately."
Since the devastating earthquake that took place in Haiti on January 12th of this year, the former Fugees star, 37, has given a vast amount of support to the island where he was born. He has helped to raise millions through the Yele Haiti Foundation as well as visiting his native land on many occasions.
