JAY-Z RICHEST MAN IN HIP-HOP
Aug 18, 2010

US Forbes magazine has announced that Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z is the richest man in the rap game
Between June 2009 and June 2010, Jay-Z made an estimated personal income of $63 million (£40 million). P-Diddy came in second with an estimated income of $30 million (£19 million) followed by Akon, Lil Wayne and Dr Dre.
In the last year, Jay-Z has made millions by the release of his album 'The Blueprint III' and by performing at a number of events. Other reasons for his vast income include his many business interests outside of music, such as his Rocawear clothing label.
Despite 'Recovery' being one of Eminem's most successful album releases to date, the rapper only managed to make 14th position, with earnings estimated at $8 million (£5 million).
The results are formulated through interviews with record label executives, layers and other people who have close ties with the artists. In some cases the rappers themselves are interviewed. Other sources of information included Nielsen SoundScan, Billboard, Pollstar and the Recording Industry Association of America.
