Pulse caught with the founders of BlakICE Entertainment
Formed in 2010, by Steve, Darren and Claudette; BlakICE is an entertainment company whose main aim is to hold events that people can love and enjoy. Steve told us: “It's just about having good times, good vibes and putting on positive events.” Made up of ten individuals, BlakICE is a collective of individuals who all have individual skills and qualities. With Steve in charge of graphical, web design and music production, Claudette handling the administration and communication side and Darren 'holding the glue,' the CEO's each have important roles to play.
Every month BlakICE present 'A Touch of Spice', which resides at Raduno's in Farringdon. The club night is aimed at the mature raver, who is looking for a good night out. With an array of different music styles and DJ's, the night is great for everyone looking for fun and a variety. Pleasing their crowd is important to BlakICE, who regularly treat their guests to freebies. And with as strong focus on unity, welcome established, as well as up and coming artists to feature on their compilation CDs.
With major competition in the industry, BlakICE are coming up with strategies to make their event stand out: “Everyone thinks they can put on an event.” And adds: “You concentrate on your market and who you're promoting.” Steve admits that the worst thing about promoting are the hours: “It's non stop.” However the positives far out weigh the negatives, and receiving feedback from ravers who have had a great time is what keeps the collective going: “We're putting on the event for the people.”
BlakICE Entertainment are focused; taking in the rough with the smooth and striving for bigger and better things. More than just a promotions company, BlakICE plan to expand their event organising and expertises into different sectors of the market.
