EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS – PHILLIPS IDOWU WINS GOLD
Jul 30, 2010
Thursday night was a fine evening for triple jumper Phillips Idowu
Last night crowds gathered to witness one of England's greatest performances, when Phillips Idowu came away with gold and beat his previous personal best. Not only did the triple jumper exceed the distance of favourite, Teddy Tamgho, Idowu also achieved his best jump ever at a distance of 17.81 metres.
This tremendous achievement from the 31 year has further boosted his confidence as he looks ahead to 2012: “There's one more medal in my career I need to win and that's in a couple of years time...”
His previous personal best of 17.73 metres was achieved in Berlin last year when Idowu won the world title.
