A round up of last weekend's athletics
Friday 13th August saw the start of the Aviva London Grand Prix, now part of the Sumsung Diamond League.
Even a monsoon could not dampen Tyson Gay's spirit as he breezed through to clock an impressive 9.78secs to win the 100m. His nearest challenger, the young Yohan Blake, flying the Jamaican flag, also had a brilliant finish in second place, clocking a personal best time 9.89secs. Richard Thompson of Trinidad got third with a modest time of 10.05secs.
Mo Farah the newly crblog.ellegirl.comowned double European champion finished second behind American rival Bernard Lagat in the 3,000m.
The Triple Jump saw the return of Christian Olsson of Sweden winning with 17.41m, with Phillip Idowu finishing in 6th place.
In the High Jump the reigning world and European champion displayed a stunning victory clearing 2.01m.
The 200m saw Allyson Felix winning with a time of 22.37.
Saturday saw a tantalising afternoon with Allyson Felix giving us a electrifying performance to produce a fantastic double winning the 400m 50.79, after winning the 200m on Friday evening only to return to take the 400m, the triple world champion became the first Athlete to claim maximum points in the same Diamond League meeting earning her Athlete of the day.
In the 110 high hurdles saw the American David Oliver powered his way to win in 13.06 meeting record. with Jamaican Dwight Thomas second in 13.32. in third place Darien Garfield from France, British athlete William Shaman forth place with the European Champion Andy Turner tired legs in finishing in 8th.
