Even in the pouring rain, Spurs were on fire at White Hart Lane
Spurs had a tremendous victory last night, beating Young Boys four goals to none - 6-3 aggregate.
They were first beaten by the Swish team 3-2 last Tuesday, but with determination in their blood , managed to claw their way back to victory. This means that for the first time in 48 years, Tottenham will have a chance to play for the European Cup.
Peter Crouch managed a hatrick, with his first goal coming just five minutes after the start of the match. The second goal was scored by Jermain Defoe, which came after the 32nd minute. Even with Defoe's groin injury the striker still managed to score a valued goal. Crouch scored his second goal of the night on the 61st minute and with only a few minutes before the final whistle; made it a hatrick from the penalty box.
Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, who seemed to be struggling a bit during the first half, was replaced by Carlo Cudicini for the last 45 minutes.
Last nights remarkable scenes were witnessed by proud and loyal Spurs supporters who have waited a long time to see their side make it into the Champions League.
Manager Harry Redknapp said: "It is a good night for Tottenham - as a kid I used to come training here and watched the games with Benfica in those great days and at that time it was amazing to see European football and the way this place was jumping.
"To bring it back tonight was great for the fans - and that is what it is all about really, the supporters, we have given them something to look forwards to in the Champions League.”
The win is said to boost the Spurs bank balance by an estimated £30 million.
